The Colours of Womanhood
Feminine qualities - return to balance
Our times ask for an appreciation of and a return to feminine qualities that each one of us, regardless of gender, carry inside, simply because we are part of nature.
A soft approach towards ourselves and each other, understanding the importance of feminine qualities, living respectfully and in harmony with Mother Earth and stimulating a collective energy for change, while at the same time challenging ourselves to let go of old patterns and learn who we truly are (and) in connection to Mother Earth.
Through my own yoga work I have noticed how a crucial part of my feminine qualities got suppressed by external experiences in my life. They have impacted me as (being) a woman and possibly how they have prevented me to fully embrace womanhood. As such, I have become fascinated by balancing what was/is unbalanced inside, female health and the beauty & resilience of womanhood.
Inspired by that I want to hear, feel and embrace women’s stories, their (cultural) understanding of being a woman, their connection to nature and health. What does that feel like then?
Remember, a woman can give life. Your mother has given life to you. Even if you won’t have children, for no matter what reason, you have this inherent strength and capacity of creation, maintenance and intuition inside. That alone should enable women to live to their full womanhood.
“I say, It’s in the click of my heels, The bend of my hair, the palm of my hand, The need for my care. ’Cause I’m a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That’s me.”
The Colours of Womanhood
wants me to meet women precisely there where they are now. As a woman who used to be a girl; as a woman who transited from a girl into a young woman symbolised by the start of her menstruation; as a woman who has to stand up for herself, create her life; as a woman who loves to enjoy life (but possibly can’t), as a woman who knows motherlove or not; as a woman who has children of her own or as a woman without children; as a woman who lives in Sub-Sahara Africa to a woman who lives in France.
The Colours of Womanhood starts physically in Tanzania where the beauty and resilience of African women is very present, yet they carry a whole life experience of suppressing feelings, caring for others and living according to expectations.
The Colours of Womanhood will be an ongoing project and starts a story about female health, women’s approach to it, the role of culture, how women are connected to themselves and their inner world, what that means and the potential they have to fully embrace their health and womanhood.
